You don’t really need to tell the generation with the lowest average tenure in a position to leave when they don’t like the job 🙃

I left my first job 2.5 months in because (1) it was a very toxic environment and (2) I felt I couldn't learn anything from the job other than how to play the political game.

It took a lot out of me to decide to resigned, and I literally teared on the spot when my boss scolded me for resigning (on hindsight it showed my decision to resign was correct).

10 years on, it's still one of the most important and best decision I made in my career 🙏🙏

After uni, I got my first job in a SME and I had the thought of leaving within the first week of work. I kept giving myself excuses that I am new so I am having a culture shock. But after 2 months I realised I was wrong. The colleagues were good but the bosses were toxic. Bosses always gave false hopes and implying that we had nothing to do and they were paying us to do nothing but that's not the case, they overloaded us with work and expected us to complete it within a short span of time. I left shortly after the project I was handling and that was the best decision of my life.

One of the best advice I recieved in my 20's about building a successful career is to recruit a mentor. Find someone you admire who is at least one generation older, and has no direct authority over you. Lack of context and perspective can cost you months and years--with a bad career choice, an unwise relocation, short-term negotiating posture, and, generally speaking, sophomoric thinking.
